Rotorua is New Zealand’s NO.1. Tourist Hot Spot…

Rotorua Accommodation

Amazing natural attractions, Great Restaurants & Cafe’s, Friendly People – along with a wonderful range of   Accommodation from Cheap Family Motels through to Amazing High-End Hotels.

Rotorua is a popular, but somewhat touristy City, offering a wealth of holiday attractions to suit all ages – natural hot pools, mountain biking, luge, Agrodome Farm Show, Thermal parks of boiling mud and geysers, several lakes for swimming – boating or trout fishing as well as scenic flights…

Whatever the season, winter, or summer Rotorua provides unique entertainment and diverse accommodation for the whole family.

It is one of the few cities in New Zealand that boasts quality hotels at affordable prices – this is due to the tourist industry being geared to the high volume of seasonal Tourists that visit Rotorua – so take advantage of the off-peak or mid-week deals by researching and booking available hotels and motels online.

Rotorua Hotels from the 4 star and above offer some of the best accommodation deals you will find in New Zealand. But where Rotorua really shines is in high-end accommodation set in amazing locations such as this Lodge Accommodation, or if you are planning a few days in a luxury spa  Wai Ora Lakeside Spa Resort is one of the best in Rotorua.

There is also a good possibility of  Last Minute Hotels at very good rates

Rotorua being a major tourist center ensures you have a range of popular hotel chains and a few locally owned boutique hotels to choose from, the tariffs range in price depending on location and facilities provided – if you are looking for a special price then searching online during the low season you will often find good quality hotels offering discounted room rates.

One of the most popular Hotels (though it gets mixed reviews) due to its location and room price is the Millennium Hotel Rotorua situated in the Central City, close to restaurants, just a 2-minute walk to the world-famous Polynesian Spa. Read our review of the Millennium here…

If you are visiting Rotorua to view the main tourist attractions or mountain biking the Millennium is in a great location – from the Hotel it is a pleasant walk through the beautiful Government Gardens past the Rotorua Museum to the Rotorua Lake Front. Or if you prefer a well-marked track starts outside the Hotels front door which allows you to ride (or walk) to Redwood Grove, from the Redwoods you have access to great walking tracks as well as the best mountain biking tracks in New Zealand.

Rotorua hostels :

There are 3 backpacker hostels in Rotorua that I would recommend.

Spa Lodge: is one of Rotorua’s longest-running hostels it has been in business as long as I have lived in Rotorua – well over 30 years, not the same owner I’m sure 🙂 – this aging hostel “has character” – the staff is loved by all who visit, (91.1% rating according to Hostel Bookers) so I’m sure you will enjoy the quirky character of this large old house that reminds some – of visiting their granny. There is also a genuine thermal spa in the back yard – free for guests to use, though there is limited off-street parking.

Crash Palace: well known for its friendly staff and large rooms – but only 2 private doubles so book early if you need them. Located close to the Govt Gardens and a short walk from the bus station. good off-street parking provided. (87.7% rating from Hostel Bookers)

Blarneys Rock: one of Rotorua’s newest backpackers and right in the Rotorua CBD close to the bus station and Bars – it’s painted a striking – pink and black – (82.1% rating from Hostel Bookers) Blarneys Rock has very cheap double rooms but only 2 of them so be quick. All 3 of these Hostels will provide you with clean cheap rooms and a friendly atmosphere that is difficult to find in larger hostels.

Rotorua Motels :

The mainstay for many budget-conscious New Zealander’s who travel in New Zealand – is the Motel.

Motels offer great accommodation deals for visitors to New Zealand. especially if you are traveling by hire car or campervan – you may occasionally  need a break from your campervan

Motels in New Zealand offer you both flexibility and comfort at a range of prices to suit all budgets, they have all the facilities of your own home including a full-size kitchen – which is great if you have had a successful day fishing on one of Rotorua’s many lakes.

Most Rotorua motels are modern with excellent amenities, the newer Motels cater to families very well, with swimming pools, tennis courts, mini-golf, play areas, etc.

Though care and a little research is needed before you book your Motel – as there are a few ” Older Out-Dated Motels ” in Rotorua – these are discretely scattered among quality Motels.
